IMPORTANT NOTE: The Open will affect everyone at CFC, not just the folks that register and participate. So whether you decide to register or sit this one out, make sure to read all the info below!

Hey friends! It’s that time again… the 2026 Open is just a couple of weeks away! This year’s Open kicks off on Thursday, February 26th. Just like last year, this event will be three weeks long, with fun, challenging workouts each week. Also as in years past, these workouts will feature modified options (Rx, Scaled, and Foundations for multiple age divisions) so that everyone can participate, regardless of fitness level.

If you’re not familiar with the Open, this video is a great place to start:

What’s the purpose of the CrossFit Open?

At its heart, the CrossFit Open is about bringing people together around a shared challenge. For a few weeks, athletes all over the world complete the same workouts, adding energy, excitement, and connection to gyms everywhere.

One of the primary goals of the Open is to identify elite athletes who will advance toward the CrossFit Games, but that’s only a small part of the story. For the vast majority of participants, the Open is about showing up, trying something a little uncomfortable, and seeing what you’re capable of right now. It provides a simple snapshot of your fitness, a benchmark to revisit over time, and a fun, motivating reason to train alongside your community with a little extra purpose.

Why should I register?

Registering turns the Open into something personal and meaningful, even if you’re juggling work, family, and a busy schedule. Signing up is less about chasing scores and more about making a small commitment to yourself to participate and see it through. Your results are tracked so you can look back in future years and say, “That was me then,” whether you scaled everything or not. You don’t have to be an elite athlete or train extra hours to belong. Registering simply plugs you into the experience, gives the workouts a little more purpose, and lets you be part of something bigger than your normal day-to-day routine.

Whether you’re registered for the Open or not, things will move a little differently here at CFC during the Open, especially on the weekends. Here’s the flow for the three weeks of the Open (2/26 to 3/16):

Each week on Thursday afternoon at 3:00pm Eastern, the Open workout for that weekend will be announced via live stream on the Open website. Don’t worry if you miss it; we’ll post the workout details to Chalk It Pro shortly after.

Then, here’s how each weekend will play out:

Friday (all classes) – ✅
The Open workout for the week will be the posted WOD each Friday. This is your first chance to get the Open workout done.

Saturday 8:30am & 10:00am – ✅
The Main Event of the week! Saturday mornings will be the best time to get the Open workout done. Standards will be explained at the start, and we’ll run organized heats until everyone has gotten a chance to do the workout. Everyone is welcome, including folks that aren’t registered for the Open. Spectators are welcome too, so bring your crew!

Sunday 8:30am-10:00am – ✅
Open Gym will be available for folks that missed Friday & Saturday and still need to get the Open workout done. This will be less structured than the Saturday morning session; we won’t run heats, but we’ll do everything we can to get everyone through the Open workout that still needs to do it.

Sunday 10:00am – ❌
Regular non-Open WOD. The Coach on duty will be leading class and will not be available to judge. No Open workouts during Sunday morning class.

Monday (all classes) – ❌
Regular non-Open WOD. The Coach on duty will be leading class and will not be available to judge. No Open workouts during Monday classes, no exceptions.

To summarize…

These are the ✅ GOOD ✅ times to do your Open workout:

  • Friday – All Classes
  • Saturday – Group Event (8:30am to 11:00am)
  • Sunday – Open Gym (8:30am to 10:00am)

These are the ❌ NO GOOD ❌ times:

  • Sunday – 10:00am class
  • Monday – All Classes

Plan your weekends accordingly during the Open! If you can’t make any of the available times, reach out to me directly and we’ll figure out a strategy to get your workout in.
