Hey fam,

As I’m sure you’ve noticed, our community has grown quickly over the past few weeks. Some of you have been here for years. Some of you joined us very recently, including many who made the transition from CrossFit Brookhaven. All of you are part of what CrossFit Chamblee is now.

With that growth, classes feel a little fuller at times. Parking is tighter in certain windows. Equipment is shared a bit more. The room has a different energy than it did a few months ago.

None of that is imaginary. When a community expands, the feel of the space shifts, even when the coaching and programming stay consistent.

When a place matters to you, even subtle changes get noticed. That’s a good thing. It means you care.

I care too. And I’m responsible for getting this right.

Here’s what I want you to know: We’re paying attention.

We’re checking attendance patterns weekly. Adding classes to the schedule is always on the table.

We’re bringing in additional equipment. More barbells, plates, clips, DBs, KBs, boxes, Abmats, etc..

The coaching staff is being more thoughtful about equipment/station layouts that help workouts run more smoothly, especially with larger groups.

We’re adding coaching support during peak classes. You may have already noticed co-coaches in some classes.

We’re looking at parking flow, especially in light of the construction site next door.

We’re working on interior and exterior building enhancements (we heard the feedback — parking lot lighting just went up to alleviate the dark walk to the rear lot in the mornings and evenings).

Bottom line: We’re watching the trends, we’re listening to your feedback, and we’re actively working to keep CFC a top shelf experience.

I also want to address a specific topic that’s come up in conversations I’ve had with some of you: Class attendance caps.

We are not implementing class caps right now. This isn’t a policy change. But I believe in being transparent about where we stand on this.

When implemented well, attendance caps protect coaching and equipment bandwidth and help ensure that every athlete gets a high-quality experience inside the hour. When done poorly, they create friction and frustration.

I recognize that there comes a point when limiting class attendance becomes the only way to make sure the entire community has a good experience. If class caps become necessary, they will only work alongside accountability to keep cancellations and no-shows to a minimum. Not to punish, but to protect access and fairness across the community.

Again, I don’t believe we’re at that point yet. But I want you to understand the philosophy behind how we make decisions. If and when we do get there, we’ll approach it thoughtfully and intentionally.

As we’ve grown, the question isn’t whether things feel different; they absolutely do. The question is what we will protect no matter what. For me, that’s crystal clear:

  • Coaching quality
  • Thoughtful programming
  • Smart scaling
  • Individual attention for anyone that wants it
  • A welcoming, ego-free culture
  • Long-term stability for this community

Those are the core attributes of CrossFit Chamblee. They won’t change whether there are three people in the room or a hundred. They are tied to how we operate, and I do everything I can to protect them.

Growth only works if the in-class experience stays strong for everyone, whether you’ve been here five years or five days. If that standard slips, we’ll adjust.

One last thing: There’s a bigger picture here. Growth isn’t just about numbers. It’s about expanding the tribe while holding the standard. With each year that passes, it feels like we — the folks who put in the effort to stay healthy and capable for ourselves and our loved ones — are more and more in the minority. I’d love to help every single resident of Brookhaven & Chamblee get and stay fit! But I’d never let that dream take my eye off the ball and allow your experience to fall off a cliff.

The goal is not to stay small. The goal is to stay excellent.

If something feels off, tell me. Not so we can retreat, but so we can refine. This is a shared space. The experience inside each hour belongs to everyone who shows up ready to train and contribute.

I’m watching things closely. I care about the quality of each class more than I care about headcount.

CrossFit Chamblee isn’t strong because it’s small. It’s strong because we’re always intentional. And that’s not changing.

See you at the gym,
Steve
